Hi Chris, beautiful gun. Can you list the parts/model numbers you used for everything? I really love that barrel and hand guard. Thanks

Well, I finally got started and picked up a lower! I'll probably start a small blog just to show the parts I buy as I make the purchases but I'm finally getting there. Went to the Crossroads of the West Gunshow this weekend and picked up a Spike's Tactical Zombie lower ;) now the 10 day wait! Thanks for this article (and really, this whole blog) in particular as I wasn't sure where to go from the lower receiver. I was thinking i'll probably just pick up a complete upper but wasn't sure about the twist info and this shed some light. As far as caliber/ammo pricing, that's something I still need to look at.

Thanks again! I'll keep you posted on progress!

Recently the commercial spec manufacturers such as DPMS, and others, have been making extruded Mil Spec diameter receiver extensions, and some are angled at the rear. It'll really only matter if you're intending to use a machined Mil Spec part, but be advised, they're out there now. Just because it's a Mil Spec diameter tube doesn't mean it's a Mil Spec part.

That story is EPIC! I'm glad you shared the whole thing! In case you get sick of your GF, I'll happily take her off your hands for a weekend.

The answer to your question regarding "Any suggestions?" was obvious: Build a CPR. What's that? Oh yes, a Cute Pink Rifle.
Behold, the Hello Kitty AR-15.

I kinda want to build one too... just for the ladies.

I definately will!!! Looks like my gf and I have a spare lower receiver to make a project rifle with. We went to Vegas not to long ago, and she played roulette, and single card black jack for he first time ever and came up on a couple of hundred bucks. The first thing she says to me is, "Let's go shopping!" I am not against women shopping, so I obliged. On the way to pick up my son from my parents (currently live out there) She see's the ammo store that my son saw on the way to my parents a few days earlier, she then tells me "Let's go shopping!" My eyes wilted up. They ended up being shut down, so I googled another store, and found Citadel gun and safe. Made our way over there to buy ammo, since we figured that it may be cheaper than buying it in Orange County. As we were looking for ammo, we saw a flyer with a bushmaster complete lower receiver parts kit for 45 bucks. She then says "that's what I want!" *more tears in my eyes* So we get 2 sets of those, a paddle holster for her XD 45, and a set of hearing protectors for my little guy. Sorry I went in depth with that story, but who wouldn't when their girlfriend refers to shopping as "GUN STORE TIME" Anyway, back to the story with the extra receiver. So we basically went to OC Armory in Laguna Hills and got 2 Spikes lower receivers, I got mine a couple of days earlier because she got food poisoning the day I went to do the paper work on mine.
She picked hers up yesterday and brings it home to show her dad, and he says to her, "why did you get one? I already got one for you when we built you moms rifle." They built her moms rifle last year, and he failed to tell her in that period of time till now that he bought her a lower... So I guess we are going to use the third lower as a project that me, her, and my son can put together. Any suggestions? Thanks for reading this long atrocious story of mine.
